Your first diagnosis
Agentic Prep works in five steps. This guide walks you through getting from installation to your first diagnosis result in under five minutes.
What you need
- A Shopify store with at least one published product
- Agentic Prep installed from the Shopify App Store
Step 1: Install the app
Install Agentic Prep from the Shopify App Store. You’ll be prompted to grant the app access to your product catalog — this is required to run the diagnosis. Agentic Prep reads your catalog data; it does not modify anything during installation.
Once installed, you’ll land on the Welcome page showing your connected store and product count.
Step 2: Run the diagnosis
Click View Diagnosis on the Welcome page. Agentic Prep will scan your catalog across five dimensions:
- Description quality
- Attribute completeness
- Schema markup coverage
- Variant structure
- Product identifiers (GTIN/MPN)
For stores with up to 250 products, the scan takes under four minutes.
Step 3: Read your results
After the scan, you’ll see:
- An AI Readiness Score (0–100) for each product
- A store-wide summary showing how many products fall into each score band
- A prioritized list of issues ranked by how much fixing them would improve your scores
- An AI Agent Preview showing how ChatGPT or Perplexity would currently describe your three lowest-scoring products
What happens next
The free diagnosis shows you exactly what’s wrong. If you want Agentic Prep to fix it, the Fix Sprint (paid) handles the actual remediation — rewriting descriptions, mapping attributes, generating schema markup — with every change staged for your approval before it touches your live store.
Product discovery vs. agentic checkouts
Agentic Prep ensures your products are perfectly formatted so AI agents can discover and recommend them. However, if you want customers to checkout directly within the AI channel, your store must also meet Shopify’s Agentic Storefronts eligibility requirements (such as being a US-based store).
